Liverpool Map

Open Culture and the Liverpool Daily Post have launched a unique project to celebrate the impact Liverpool has had on the world. We are creating a map showing where the people of Merseyside think the boundaries of Liverpool really lie, geographically, historically and culturally. The map will highlight Liverpool's local, national and global influences, including the historical context, such as the 800th year anniversary boundary and where it all began with the original 6 streets.

The local vote has now closed and we need to you to tell us locations from across the world which need to be marked up on the map as being influenced by Liverpool.

To follow the debate so far visit the Daily Post Website

Once all the nominations are in, the final outcome will be an artistic representation of the 'Liverpool Map’ which will go on display in the new Museum of Liverpool in 2010.

To nominate a global location to be included in the Liverpool map you can:

Email lizawilliams@dailypost.co.uk

Write to Liza Williams, Liverpool Map, Liverpool Daily Post newsroom, PO Box 48, Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L69 3EB, including your name and telephone number

Discuss at the Liverpool Map forum http://forums.liverpooldailypost.co.uk Here you can list your global suggestions for inclusion.

Call for Artists

Artists working in any medium are invited to submit an expression of interest to create and interpret the new Liverpool Map. The new map will be displayed in the Museum of Liverpool when it opens in 2010. It will have a prominent position on a free standing wall (height 3.5m, width 3m, with a depth of up to 1m floor space available in front of the wall).

The artist’s fee for the creation of the new Liverpool map is £20,000. This does not include materials and installation costs.
